jeffb 0 Posted February 10, 2009 I recently replaced an old VHS and multiplexer setup with a dvr with gv1480 Geovision card. It has 3 phillips/bosch g3 envirodome PTZ cameras. I cannot get the PTZ controls from Geo software to work. The old unit had a small control pad that plugged into the multiplexer fro PTZ control. The cameras do not use rs485, rather the manual that i found online for camera says it uses rs232 or bi-phase. I bought a GV-Net card, but I don't think that was what I needed. I want to be able to move these cameras by any means necessary, I am fine with putting just old control pad on to move cameras with it, however, I don't want to have to put multiplexer back on, it is too big to leave there. Is there a way to use just the control pad?? Some other type controller? Some way to make Geo software control with rs232??
jeromephone 6 Posted February 18, 2009 We ran into this and were able to get a protocol changer that turned the bosch to pelco and then we controlled with the geo vision. I will try and remember who made it I think they were out of MI and it was around 150.00 or so.
cctv_down_under 0 Posted February 25, 2009 You can use 485, you just need a 232 to 485 converter....most newer Bosch Domes can be set to Pelco Protocol so that you could use a standard pelco controller or the DVR if you have one....you could buy a simple Biphase controller.
