strokey 0 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi everyone, I have a little problem...I have from my DVR a monitor out to view the cameras. I have a long RG59 cable from my DVR to the monitor in another room about 100 ft away. When I hook up monitor, the picture flickers....How can I cure that? todd2 0 Posted February 18, 2009 Does it flicker if the monitor is connected directly to the DVR? If not, you may be having significant signal attenuation. You could add an amplifier in-line, or switch to RG6 cable which has lower loss per unit length. (You can identify RG6 cable because it's stiffer than RG59.) strokey 0 Posted February 18, 2009 The closer it is to the DVR, no flicker, just once I have the distance.
survtech 0 Posted February 18, 2009 Are you using the proper RG-59 for CCTV?
Erron S. 0 Posted February 20, 2009 Are you using the proper RG-59 for CCTV? Agreed. It sounds to me like you have foil shielded -CATV- wire, not CCTV wire.
