a94cobra 0 Posted February 8, 2005 I have a Geovision card. I am trying to log on to the webcam. On a machine with WindowsXP sp2 I can't install the activeX control. It says unknown pubilsher and won't let me run the activeX control. My best guess is that the contol is only valid to Novemer 2004. Why is that? Or is there another problem? rory 0 Posted February 8, 2005 If you are in Internet Explorer, did you click on the yellow tab at the top of the browser window, it allows you to install the active X, by default it will not install active X, new security in SP2 and IE. If you did and it still didnt install, also check the security settings in TOOLS, OPTIONS, SECURITY Under ACTIVEX - make sure anything there that is disabled, is then checked for PROMPT (not enabled!!) ONLY FOR ACTIVEX. APPLY and reload and see what happens. GEO has worked on my SP2 just last night, darn thing needs to install a million things, but yah know. It worked once they were installed. Look at particularly the area there that sais: DOWNLOAD UNSIGNED ACTIVEX CONTROLS - Make it prompt Cant remember if I had to enable those to promt or not, perhaps not .. who knows ..too many buds! Anyway, they are all default right now, so maybe not, anyway, email / PM me a link to test out and Ill let you know if it works. There could be something else that is causing it not to install also, like nortons security or something else.. Rory
a94cobra 0 Posted February 8, 2005 That where the ActiveX setting is. I knew there had to be a way to turn that off. I will give that a try later and see.
