McConsort 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Hi everybody, We're new here, and we're french; we're currently working on a project based on hikvision DS-4004-HCI / 4008-hci & 4016-hci. We have a lot of problems with them. First you need to know that we're working on linux! Hikvision only provides an old kernel module for theses cards, we write them, and we're still waiting for a new driver... But for that it's ok, we world on an old fedora core 8... Second problem, and we're here to require your help for this one, we need to record the stream coming from the cards. The examples codes they give us work well for creating files (.mp4), but we'll need to convert this file to another codec sometimes (for ex : .flv). The problem is that we can't find a way to do this => they said it's a H.264 file, but it seems to be a proprietary bad codec. So can you help us finding a way to convert the .mp4 file using mencoder or ffmpeg for example? Cause mplayer/mencoder can't recognise the file (for vlc is the same)... Thanks for any help Regards
squelch 0 Posted March 19, 2009 Same situation here. I would like to get kernel drivers for new Debian/Ubuntu Dists. I believe a company called DSP Research may be of some help as they have their own SDKs for these cards.

Thanks for any help Regards I've been successful with KM Player. Open ,mp4 file with KM Player, right click/capture/save as. Use what ever name you want the file to be with .avi extension

I would be very interested. thank you! Flyeye
