DVR MAN 0 Posted March 5, 2009 My DVR records in MPEG4 compression. It runs on embedded Linux. The files are "supposed" to be Windows cpmpatible.............NOT! Where can I find a program to enable me to open and view the files in Win XP Pro? I would also like to be able to convert the files to .AVI and other formats. Thanks in advance! ver2go 0 Posted March 6, 2009 You might be missing the codec to view the file. I suggest trying VLC to see if it plays it first. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ To convert you can use Handbrake http://handbrake.fr/ To Figure out what codec was used on the file use AVICodec: http://avicodec.duby.info/ All Free Software
DaveM 0 Posted March 6, 2009 My AVTech 761 creates .DVR files. I use the AVTech VideoPlayer to view and convert them.
DVR MAN 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks guys, but none of the above opened my .DVR files so far. The .DVR files generated by the recorder are SUPPOSED to be win. compatible.
vin2install 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Try using your NetPlayer or Your CMS player that came with the DVR to open those files. That should play it. The *.DVR format seems like a proprietary format.
DVR MAN 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks all! I just located a viewer on line. It opens &converts. I do not know why my DVR software did not have viewer software. It just had network software that would not open a file that was on a USB drive. Thanks again.
