Avtech 761 "-OW-" in display just below remaining

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a used Avtech 761. Everthing is fine and I have full functions including remote network access. However, in the camera window just below the remaing HDD space I have a 4 digit text line which reads -OW- in yellow text. I do not know what it is despite reading the manual twice over. I may have missed something and I would be garteful if someone could tell me what this is and if I can remove it. thanks.

OK - after reading through the manual a 3rd time, I now find this is actually a display indicating the HDD is set to Over-Write (obvious when you know) - I would like to get rid of it though as it is distracting. Please don't tell me to switch of the over-write

You would think it would toggle on/off from the display/HDD setting... I mean if you might want to turn off the HDD remaining display then you might want to turn off the OW display too.

Oh well, I guess that's why it's a 200 dollar DVR and not a 2000 dollar DVR!

Scott, you make a pretty good point. If i've set the unit to overwrite I may as well switch off the HDD remaining display (that may be the reasoning behind the software). Of course until I try it, but there's no guarantee the -OW- will dissapear.

The reason I've left it on for now is I wanted to see how my drive was doing in terms of space used (before over-write) as I have only just set the unit up.

I'll tutn the HDD display off and keep my fingers crossed - cheers!.

It does look like shutting off HDD info works. I thought I had seen that before and it didn't work. Seems to be working now...

Yep - that does it. For anyone trying this themselves, after selecting no for HDD display, you have to almost come out of the menu system before the -OW- disappears, even though the HDD info goes as soon as you select no. Thanks for your help Scott.
