-Why is AVerDiGi EB 1304 MD SATA bigger in size then the AVerDiGi EB 1304 NET SATA/SATA+?

-If I would like to connect the AVerDiGi EB 1304 to an battery (as UPS), what is the current (in AMPs) of the AVerDiGi EB 1304? Do I need an voltage stabilizator?
