tbrennan 0 Posted March 21, 2009 I have a camera (Dome Turret From Super Circuits) that I would like to wire-into a DC Power System on a boat, Could I just use a Pigtail and wire it directly in? Or would I need a fuse for the camera? How would this work? Thanks! -Tbrennan
gsscctv 0 Posted April 2, 2009 Did this DC power system come with the boat or you bought it for the camera? If it came with the boat, then check what the votage output is. The small scale DC Power boxes for cameras come with fuses built inside. If your DC Power system outputs 12 volts then check the power requirement of the camera. If it says DC 12v near the power connector or in the manual then I believe you can connect camera without any special things.
Soundy 1 Posted April 2, 2009 The biggest consideration might be over-voltage. Many cheap 12V cameras don't like anything over about 12.5-13V, whereas if this is a larger boat with a car-type charging system, you may be looking at up to 14-15V depending on load and engine speed. In this case, you may want to add a 12V regulator board for the camera.
