serialmouse 0 Posted March 22, 2009 Hi all... I was hoping someone could give some advice to me in regards to a problem I've got... First off customer wants to do it as cheap as possible but isn't that always the way. So what I have are 2 DVR's, one 16 channel and one 8 channel. The DVR's do have loop outs (of course), they are the DWD Max2's. I have 5 27" monitors and 1 46" screen. What I need to do is distribute the cameras amongst 6 different monitors similar to a spot but not a spot (the main monitor excluded). I need to be able to pick and choose what cameras go on what monitors and the same cameras might go on a few different monitors. What I had in mind is quads for the smaller 25" screens and possibly a 16 channel multiplexor for the 50" screen. But the problem with this setup is that I need to t-tap some of the feeds coming from the quads/multiplexor and I hate to split signals. I looked at a matrix but it looks as though it will only push out 1 camera to each monitor... which is no good. Is there a product out there that will allow me to plug a feed from each camera into it and then use software to push the various cameras out to the individual monitors? I figure someone on here with more experience than me will have come across such an issue. Sorry if this isn't clear... Thanks!
coolie11 0 Posted March 22, 2009 What I did in the past was, loop out the channels for each display patern that was required to various multiplexers, in my case three. Then I used video amplifiers to connect 1 multiplexer to three monitors and and another to two monitors, the last multiplexer was connected directly to a single monitor. There are multiplexers nowadays that provide loop outs allowing you to go from one to the next using only the channels you want, some also offer multiple outputs avoiding the need for any amplifiers. eg:- 16Ch DVR, 3 x 9ch Multiplexers, 6 19" Monitors & 2 video amps. 1. DVR Loop out Channels 1,2,3,5,6,8 & 13 to multiplexer #1 input 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9. Connected to 4 way amp feeding 3 monitors. 2. DVR loop out Channels 4,7,9 & 11 together with multiplexer #1 loop out Channels 1,2,5,8 & 9 to multiplexer #2 input 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9. Connected to 4 way amp feeding 2 monitors. 3. DVR loop out Channels 10,12,15 & 16 together with multiplexer #1 loop out channels 4 & 6 together with multiplexer #2 loop out channels 3,6 & 7. Connected directly to monitor #3. Hope this helps and doesn't seem to be confusing.
bigbuilding 0 Posted March 26, 2009 I have a few multiplexors and a few quads and matrix, basically the multiplexor/quad is just another camera call up that cam number and multiplexor/quad view. Works great.
