Para 0 Posted March 28, 2009 Hi, This is my first post on the forum so would just like to say thanks in advance for any help and advice you can provide. I have a current setup with a PC card (Geovision) and camera's, but am now looking to move to a standalone DVR. When everything was originally installed I had the spare server, and standalone DVR's which provided the functionality I needed were considerably more. The rack in the room which houses the current setup is now being moved and the only noisy device left is the CCTV Server. Therefore I was going to swap it for a standard desktop machine. But having looked at standalone offerings it now appears I can get everything I need for much less then the cost of a new PC. Plus save on the electric bill and cut out the noise. The two units I'm currently looking at are the (i'm in the UK) AV760Z or KPD604F. The problem with the 760Z is it appears to be equivelant to the 760 rather then the 760A. Therefore MPEG4 will only be possible in CIF mode. I can't seem to find the 760A at a reasonable price and in stock in the UK. The KPD-640-F appears to have everything the 760A has and is a similar price to the 760Z (£20 more). Looking at the manual on the avtech site it can also accomodate 2 HDD. And has 4 x audio in, as opposed to 1 x audio in on the 760's. Could anyone enlighten me as to the pro's and cons of these three models: 760Z 760A KPD-604-F I'm thinking there must be something I'm missing, because the 604 clearly looks like the better unit, but the 760A seems to be the more expensive/common/sought after. Also how noisy are these devices? I haven't found db ratings for the fans. Or confirmed power consumption ratings. Thanks again for any advice/help you can give. Para 0 Posted March 29, 2009 So after looking at the spec on the AVTech site and speaking to the retailer I've opted for the 604. The only issue I have now is that its video out put is composite video, which my monitor doesn't support.
