davejuk 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi I hope you guys can help me. Some toe rag keeps keying my car on my drive and on the road outside the house. In broad daylight and in the middle of the night. I need a high-res camera for use outdoors with excellent picture quality in all light conditions. A single camera can easily cover the drive way and pavement directly outside the house. I'd rather something that's difficult to spot - it's got beyond prevention, I just want to catch them doing it. If money was no object, what would I buy? I'm not exactly a CCTV enthusiast so I'll need all the supporting kit too. I have a PC that runs continuously; should I just stick a DVR card in that, or is there a good reason to use a dedicated PVR instead? Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm in the UK if that makes any difference.
C7 in CA 0 Posted March 30, 2009 Take a look at the Panasonic WV-CW484S. Nice camera!
davejuk 0 Posted March 31, 2009 OK, thanks. I didn't realise they got quite that expensive though! I had more like £200 GBP in mind, so around $300 USD. I can't see that model available in the UK either, so the import duty will make it even more expensive. I guess the question then become, what's the best price:performance model available in the UK? Also, can those dome-type housings be mounted vertically on a wall or must they be mounted on horizontally? Thanks.

zmxtech 0 Posted April 4, 2009 hi res then you will need an IP camera for starters. Im quite impressed with the ACTI line good bang for buck one of their IR bullets would do the job ACM-1511 does 1.3 Megapixel and has an IR cut filter and has a small zoom. POE to boot sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet yes they are $1000+ Au ! but they do the job -just fixing your car will cost that And after you have beaten him to a pulp you can show the police a nice mega pixel shot that he was fine before he fell up the stairs z
davejuk 0 Posted April 4, 2009 That's brilliant, the ACM-1511 looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for. The cheapest I can find it is $465.94 USD at Shark Systems. If I was to buy this camera, which of the resolutions would be best for identifying the culprit? 1280x1024 @ 8fps 1280x720 @ 10fps 640x480 @ 30fps I would guess 1280x720 @ 10fps?
