nocturnal59 0 Posted April 2, 2009 Just wanted to see how everyone connects the power cable to cctv camera. What method do you use I personaly cut the power connector of a power supply and splice in with the siamese cable. Only thing is my employees always seem to put a few on backwards because it is not clearly marked positive and negative, both cables look black. Not to big of a deal, i just have to change to positive and negative in the power supply, but does get annoying. I bought connectors from ebay with a leed and beenie at the end but they were very crappy(they plastic broke just by touching it). I also seen people cut the power connector off the camera and splice directly in(sure that voids warrenty of the camera) I checked on ebay, has anyone tried these? are they any good? I wish i could order 1 to try, the only sell in 50pack and 100pack. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-1mm-CCTV-Power-Connector-50-pack-70-each-supply_W0QQitemZ110371895819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item110371895819&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
Soundy 1 Posted April 2, 2009 Most of the cameras I use have some form of spring or screw terminals. 12VDC barrel connectors are generally relegated to cheap consumer-grade cams. If I do run into these, I'll usually snip the end off the adapter and connect it to my power-wire run, then connect the rest of the adapter at the other end, as it makes it a lot easier to swap the camera out when it needs service or replacement (which is a lot more common with these sort of cheap cameras). As long as you match up the wires at both ends, it doesn't really matter which is positive or negative.
