crunkone 0 Posted April 12, 2009 I am doing something wrong or have missed a step. I have the Avermedia 1304. I signed up with Avermedia DDNS. The internet is coming via Netopia DSL wireless/lan router. The dvr box has a static IP outside the range of the router DHCP. The mask and gateway are the same as in the router. The DNS is also the same as in the router. I cant use port 80 because the router is using it so I am on 5001. I opened ports, 5001, 5550, 5555, 1053, 53 as recommended by a service ticket to Aver. I can see the box from the local network using IE and the software. If I browse to (the domain xxx avers com tv) from the internet i get a blank page. From the router I created separate pinholes for each port and followed the directions listed in the sticky. I have been reading and wonder if there is something I need to do that deals with the DMZ/gaming settings? Any help would be appreciated.
VST_Man 1 Posted April 12, 2009 don't use DMZ............ got to http://www.no-ip.com and check the ports you have forwarded to m ake sure they are open. Then, check what your IP address is and use that to test your internet viewing. How is the router using port 80? Router should not use port 80. It might use 8080 for remote admin........explain dat please? make changes to use port 80 if ossible. Put the DVR inside the DHCP range.

The router is using port 80 for html, which i read is pretty common. I think i may have found a possible issue. I may have the gateway set wrong in the dvr. VST_Man 1 Posted April 13, 2009 ok, you are confused on how ports work..especially HTTP port 80...unless you have a WEB server doing HTTP, you can set your DVR to port 80 and you'll still have internet/HTTP. gateway helps......................
crunkone 0 Posted April 13, 2009 ok, you are confused on how ports work..especially HTP port 80...unless you have a WEB server doing HTP, you can set your DVR to port 80 and you'll still have internet/HTP. gateway helps...................... Since i am not located where the dvr is, i will have to try the changes during my next visit. My thing is, why cant I use port 5001?
VST_Man 1 Posted April 13, 2009 You can..but, everytime you connect to it you'll need to add the 5001 at the end of your url.........just harder............. it's like choping a tree down with an axe when you have a chainsaw. But, it's your tree.
