homeless2 0 Posted April 21, 2009 Was wondering if anyone has ever encountered flickering camera images? Most likely something to do with the power but any one knows the exact reason? By the way, I'm using a 230V-50Ghz Input, and 12V Output, however the socket that i've conneceted to is a 220V input, will this effect the image? Thanks
Squiffy 0 Posted April 21, 2009 Constant flickering at a constant rate? The PSU will be fine with 220V input (BTW, it's 50Hz, not 50GHz!) It may well be caused by a poor PSU, is it a regulated output? It could also be down to video cable routing (does it run alongside other cables?), or the connection itself. Hello Squiffy, Thanks for the reply, In fact I tried connecting the power adapter through a UPS and still it is flickering, it is not very bad, but still... The cables shouldnt affect as it is a demo set, and cables are 1m max. Oh well, I'll try all possibilites and update the thread.
coolie11 0 Posted April 22, 2009 I would say it's the PSU. If you can, try powering camera with a 7Ah battery and see what happens. Is it an IR Camera?
Ted 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Bad grounding can cause problems like this. Also if you have different grounding points with potential differences you can expect some strange behaviour in the images. Interferences from strong current cables can also cause this.
cctveng 0 Posted April 29, 2009 Yes, it sounds like a GLF (Ground Loop Fault) to me. My suggestion would be to: ISOLATE the camera from any metallic base and then try it. Disconnect the camera, connect it direct to the recorder - still flickering? Replace the lead (power and coax) temporarily with a new one - still flickering ?
