marvelusmarvcus 0 Posted April 22, 2009 just bought myself an 8 channel nuvico dvr after doing lots of research. i will be using this for my prsonal home system. i am using extreme wizkid bullet cams outside. i will also be installing 2 indoor cameras and would appreciate some users opinions. i keep the lights low inside my home during the day. i turn all of the lights off at night. i would like to use dome cameras instead of the look of bullets inside. ir may be necessary due to the lighting, but i would not prefer. want them to show color and good res. after reading through the posts, ganz seemed to come recommended? budget would be under $300 per cam. have any suggestions for this? thanks! vin2install 0 Posted April 24, 2009 Is your home completely dark at night, if it is do you want to see at night?
marvelusmarvcus 0 Posted April 27, 2009 it will be completely dark at night, so i might need infrared, but there are some neat looking ir domes out there without the bubble any ideas?
marvelusmarvcus 0 Posted May 5, 2009 i guess the main problem i am having is that i want the cameras to show in color in my living room. even when the lights are full on, the camera i am currently using does ir/black and white. when i trick it to stay color, it looks fine, but goes back to ir again. is there a camera out there that would stay color and not switch to ir so easily, and show well in low light. not looking for perfect detail, actually prefer the room in color over detail. im thinking nuvico again and maybe a dome with no ir? marvelusmarvcus 0 Posted May 6, 2009 i contacted nuvo via email, i got a response from someone who i bet doesnt speak english very well. i had asked if they had a dome camera with ir, that could have the ir switched off, or adjusted manually as to when to come on. basically, he said they did not have a model like this. i know samsung does have one that is adjustable. i might just go with one that has no ir period as i am really using this camera to log in from work and view the inside of my home. not that concerned about security, and i dont want it in black and white mode for this purpose. the nuvico domes do seem to perform well in low light. i think i will order one and try it out. I think Ganz cameras are great. I have used them in the past and they have great support too. For $300 you can get a pretty nice True Day Night camera with out any IR's. If all the lights are off and it is total dark you should think about gettting one with IR's. Put it this way...if you can't see because it is is too dark than the camera won't see either. The IR's are made to kick on when the camera sensor tells it there is not enough light to see...
marvelusmarvcus 0 Posted May 9, 2009 thanks, i did see some good reviews on the ganz. so far, i have used a few cameras, and they all seem to switch on the ir before it is really necessary. i have only heard of a few cameras that actually allow you to control when the ir kicks in, or even shut it off completely. i have my outside cameras to cover my property pretty well, and a security system. i just wanted the inside cameras to view from work during the day. its not really that cool when you log in to see your dog in infrared/black and white. i might just use some good, low light, non-ir, indoor cameras.
