scanyman 0 Posted April 23, 2009 Hi, has any one had any experience of replacing a faulty cd/dvd drive on a eco 4 dvr. The original drive started clunking and failed to be detected. Removed carefully from unit and found exact replacment Sony CRX835E. Had to swop the ide board on back of the drive to the new one. When installed it hangs the boot process of the DVR as if it need a drive allocation but no jumpers on the drive. Unplugging the drive allows the DVR to boot ok. I suspect that I need to access parameters on the drive somehow but cant find any manual or help for the drive that is relevent to DVR installations. Any ideas guys ( machine is out of warranty and DM dont want to help me without returning the unit for an expensive repair even though we have purchased and installed dozens of these machines) Any ideas appreciated. scanyman 0 Posted April 23, 2009 Answered my own question with a bit of research. Drive needs EEPROM setting to slave. drive configured as master on receipt. Used easily available EEPROM software off net to alter setting. Now working fine.
