ChrisP 0 Posted April 28, 2009 I have to do an outdoor wire install in NYC. I am going to be running outdoor, burial grade cat5 cable. Does the cable have to be piped if it is running 20' up on the wall? Lets say this is a nice area and there are no vandalism issues.
sviviani 0 Posted April 28, 2009 depends on local codes. here it is legal but comes to asthetics, security, and what the customer will pay for.
survtech 0 Posted April 28, 2009 Definitely check NYC codes. I used to live there many years ago and at the time, they had the strictest codes in the country.
ChrisP 0 Posted April 29, 2009 I have called the department of buildings here in Queens and I am told I dont have to do any piping. These are low voltage cameras and there is plenty of exposed wiring from time warner cable and dishnetwork in this area. Client does not want to pay for piping so I guess I will use high quality outdoor cable and blend in with other cbales.
