pyromaster114 0 Posted May 5, 2009 Okay, so I have a Panasonic network camera that I wish could see better in the low light conditions around the outside of the house. I have seen these things called Infrared Illuminators that apparently work by shining an infrared beam on the target you want visible. My question is, how effective are these things, and would they work with any camera?
zmxtech 0 Posted May 13, 2009 what camera model ? Infrared illuminators wont work with every camera because of the hot mirror/IR filter they use that stops the massive IR blast from the sun effecting the picture during the day. Good IR cameras usually have an 'IR cut filter' on the unit to access the CCD`s IR capability. [day-night] its removed mechanically at night. IR illumination does not suit everyone. It gets a bad wrap from Ebay rubbish cameras. And hacks. When done properly its very good providing clear Identification.
