angelofprogress 0 Posted May 8, 2009 Hey Everyone, I'm new to this forum. I am helping the company I work for upgrade from a VHS security system to a digital video recorder system. I have a Bosch Divar XF that we are currently demoing. It does everything we want pretty well. It has four front accessible hard drive bays. We thought this would be great because we could service the hard drives ourselves. Well...it turns out that Bosch has set this thing up to only accept drives from them...and they charge $1,000 for a 1TB hard drive. It's a WD RE3 hard drive that only costs $150 max, and they're charging $1,000 for it? This seems a little wrong. Does anyone know if there is a way around this? Will cloning one of the drives that comes with the unit to another drive work? We're on a tight budget and I just can't tack on an extra $4,000 to each unit just for 4TB of hard drive space that should cost me $600. $3500 multiplied by the 9 sites we're doing is a huge hit that we can't afford...any help is appreciated. ECCC 0 Posted March 25, 2012 I ran into the same problem. Hard drives are cheap now but buying one from Bosch is expensive. I tried cloning the drive and that didn't work. Anyone know how to make a Bosch non-certified hard drive work?
