i am designing a camera system for a local gated community

there requests are to have 2 license plate reader cams at each gate to view incoming and outgoing traffic

the cameras will need to record, but not be viewed live

there is not a location for inside storage of a DVR

i would need to mount an enclosure to the gate with the DVR recorder inside or have the DVR built into each camera

if there is an incident, they would go to the DVR or camera and pull the info with a thumb drive

anyone have any ideas? and thanks as always

thats a good read.

the problem is where to put this DVR. it doesnt even need to be networked, but there is no where i can store this thing.

both of these gates have no storage, outside of putting a dvr in an enclosure?

I did one for a gated community where we built an enclosure backed up the the brick wall inside the gate area and insulated it and we put a DVR lockbox mounted inside the enclosure with two fans on the lock box. We added a wireless access point so the courtesy officers could log on with there laptops and review the video or to download a copy for evidence as needed. It seemed to work out and the DVR has been running for over three years without a problem. The courtesy officers like the idea as well.

You could use the Mobotix M12 day-night cam they have a DVR built in [8-16GB SD card] & waterproof. you wont need a LPR system with this 3mp cam.

In motion detect mode threr will be enough space for months.

-add a WIFI Access point for remote Access -very easy

-can just pull the SD card

-or log in via the ethernet port with a lappy

I work for a specialized distributor of IP video solutions. We actually sell an IP camera much less expensive than the Mobotix brand that also has an SD card slot for Onboard storage and is also a 2 MP lens. You may want to look into it . United Digital Technologies.
