heres a dumb question

Recommended Posts

so my search continues for an indoor camera that will stay in color mode

if all the lights are out, then i am not concerned about viewing it

i used a cheap GE truvision ir dome inside and something surprised me

the GE did ir and color at the same time. the close parts of the image were black and white with the ir, but the back of the shot was in color as there was light present

so heres the dumb question

what do you call this feature? and who has this in their cameras?

some are called color night cameras. but its really hard to find a good one.

Many of them slow the shutter right down to achieve this -very bogus.

oh Minitron have some good stuff

others have poor sensors they kill the colour and call em night cams -ARGHH

most of the name brands have some good cams that go down to 1 lux or so in color -bosch etc etc

There are some cameras that can do that in the $600.00 retail price range.

You can buy one at demo prices if you need one.

I must apologize. I missunderstood. I thought you wanted a camera that can see in complete darkness, and give you color.

I did not realize that you wanted a $100 camera that gave B/W exept where there is low lighting.

i am willing to spend more than $100

was just referencing this cheapie camera i have with that feature

i am mainly looking at the nuvico line of cameras, but i dont think they have a cam with this feature

i might just have to try a color only camera with no ir and see how well it works
