G22 0 Posted May 18, 2009 At present I have a few 19" Viewsonic PC LCD's. I am wondering if it would be worth it to get a 640x480 Panasonic LCD instead for example. DVR is a Panasonic WJ-HD316 at present, and the VGA output seems clearer (on the OSD menus at least) than BNC or even S-Video. Would the Panasonic LCD @ 640x480 (I am assuming that is their resolution) be clearer than the Viewsonic b/c of the lower native res? tx
Eddiekr03 0 Posted May 18, 2009 I would say stick with the Viewsonic, Panasonic may get a little noisy at night times. If you could use the VGA for video I would definitely recommend it. The reason the VGA is going to be a better picture is because it splits the video more then a BNC or S-Video (Which is getting phased out), causing the picture to be sharper. The only thing better then VGA is HDMI or DVI.
G22 0 Posted May 18, 2009 Even if the Viewsonic's native res is say 1280 x 1024? I always thought the picture might be not as clear when you downsize the res to the DVR.
survtech 0 Posted May 18, 2009 That's quite true. Although we have not tested the Panasonic product, I can vouch for the fact that analog camera picture quality on an LCD digital monitor with 800x600 or higher resolution does not look as good as a CRT monitor can provide.
