Avtech 760 lost connection intermittently

Recommended Posts

I have Avtech 760 connected to Linksys WRT54GS. Everything works fine: I have email notifications, ftp upload, web browser monitoring.

But it's all good for only a day. The next day I try to log in to Video Server E I get " Login procedure failed " error and web monitoring isn't possible either. Both my internal and external ip adresses give me error message. Only option is to reboot the DVR and then it works again for a day or so ( I haven't been checking it every day, but when ever I do, it's unaccessible).

Any thoughts on that??

Call your ISP internet help desk.

Ask them for the service where they watch your internet connection, and it provides a "recording" of your connection. The next day they can tell you if you have a connection problem, or you have not drop outs.

If you have dropouts then it most likely will be from the street connection to the house/business. This is usually the oldest wire, and the weakest link.

Have them come out an do a thorough system check.

If there are no dropouts then this points to your computer, or the DVR, or your router.

What do you think?

My internet connection is good, no outings there.

Another idea: I noticed that my ftp site was full (I only have 25 MB space). Is it possible that because the ftp upload is failing it causes DVR to drop the network connection all together. I disabled the ftp upload and I haven't had connection problems for 3 days. I'll keep on monitoring.

I have never set up FTP, so I truely do not know.

It has not messed up in three days? I wonder if it could have been the FTP situation as well.

Interesting!
