wisp_engineer 0 Posted June 11, 2009 Anyone here ever use the Genesis Value Line series of rg59? It is pretty low cost compared to the Genesis Premium rg59. I can save almost 22 bucks a spool (500ft) by going with the Value Line. I called the dist. and asked him what was the difference and if it was all copper construction and he said yes, and he is shipping the stuff like mad and has had no issues. Any thoughts? What are the typical brands everyone here uses?
jeromephone 6 Posted June 13, 2009 We have used that cable and have had no problems with it. I don't know what the differences are but we made sure that it had a solid copper core and it has.

emholic 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Hi, the difference with the "value Line" is the copper braid. The braid is not 95% copper but does give you 95% COPPER COVERAGE, this is the difference. We have heard people copying our cable now but being very shady about it, for instance to cut costs, the manufactures overseas will use recycled PVC which is heavier and breaks apart a lot easier under hot or cold conditions, a few years down the line service calls galore. the center conductor may be solid copper but is it the correct gauge? a lot of them try to swindle the specs. the main main main difference with solid 100% genuine solid copper cabling and 95% copper coverage "value line", "overseas manufacturing" is when both cables go from point "a" to point "b" the picture from the solid copper cable looks much better than the cheaper 95% coverage cable. EVERYONE is using the 95% copper coverage cable, you have to, in order to compete with local installers. we took a huge market away from the belden, westpenn, etc. they HAVE to put in the value line now. wisp_engineer 0 Posted June 26, 2009 So perhaps the Value Line is acceptable for indoor installations, but when running wiring outside where it may be exposed, one should either put it in conduit or use the premium line?
