buelldart 0 Posted June 13, 2009 Hello everybody, this is my first post/question. I'm a DIYer. I recently installed a standalone cctv system I bought on ebay, the DVR is a Zmodo, 8 cameras, everything chinesse. It has 9 BNC inputs and a VGA and a BNC outputs. Everything is fine except I can´t connect the BNC output to a VHF (antenna, coaxial) input on a TV. The funny thing (to me) is that if I connect a RCA video converter to the coaxial antenna end of the cable and plug it in a video RCA input of the same tv I get the signal. I could connect the tv with RCAs but the thing is that there's already some coaxial (cable tv type) wiring and it's neat and everything and goes thru walls and roof and everything. By the way, 2 different guys at a radioshack type store told me that I should be able to connect the dvr thru the antenna input of the tv with no extra connector, although i tried with a couple of adapter and got the same problem. Thank you all for your suggestions.

That'll teach you to listen to Radio Shack salespeople. BTW, I speak from experience - I used to manage a R.S. store. To receive Composite Video on a TV channel, you need an RF Modulator. That converts the video to a TV channel. Or just use the BNC-to_RCA adaptor and connect to a video input on your TV.
Soundy 1 Posted June 13, 2009 The problem with using all the existing cable wiring in your house for this is that it mostly likely all feeds back to one splitter for the incoming cable signal, so there's no way to route the signal, say, from a wall jack in the room with the DVR, to another wall jack elsewhere in the house. There are a number of different ways to accomplish what it APPEARS you're trying to do, it all depends on the specifics of what you're after. You can use a modulator to "add" the DVR signal to the cable feed where it comes into the house, and then tune the DVR on any TV in the place, or you can just run the DVR's video output straight to any one TV's A/V inputs. crirvine 0 Posted June 18, 2009 The only DVR that Radioshack knows anything about is built into the dish network or direct tv which ever they sell. but if your tv is new enough to have more than one rca inputs you can go that route.
