No HDD Detected.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I own a 8ch dvr non branded an incident took place outside my home so the cops took my DVR for investigation purposes so I used an old one I had when I connected it, NO HDD detected error was displayed, I thought maybe its faulty.

The cops returned my DVR a few days back and now when I connect it, the same error message is being displayed. NO HDD Detected. I opened the DVR up and saw the Hard drive was still in there.

I have no idea what to do, any help would be appreciated.

Hi, make sure the data and power cables are connected to the hard drive properly. Maybe the cops took it out to get the data off of it.

also make sure they put the jumpers back on right, make sure it is set to master and not slave. if thats straight and still coming up as missing, then best to replace it, or take it to a PC store if you cant deal with it, so they can check it out to first see if it even needs replacing. It could have just got corrupt and lost the partition table, MBR etc. and they might be able to re partition it, though that could also mean eminent failure.

Hey thanks a lot for the replies. Tonight I'll connect the hard drive to the computer to see if the hard drive is working and not dead. I'll post the results tomorrow.

Hello, hope it helps!

1. Turn your DVR off. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the cover of the DVR.

2. locate the Hard Drive and check the connections from the Hard Drive to the Circuit Board.

3. Carefully unplug them and plug them back in to make sure they have a good connection (most of the time in comes off near the Hard Drive).

If you need any help, please let me know!

1. Pick up your phone.

2. Phone your Lawyer

3. Sue the cops!!!

If you have a compatable PC try extracting the HDD from it and connect up your own (remember the jumper settings) see if it will start in WINDOWS and if not it will give you an error message. This fault is obviously PC based and depending on the O.S. of your DVR (usually windows or Linux) there should be enough Tech Heads here to help you out.

There is a distinct possibility you might have to re-install the O.S. in your DVR. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it

Being ex law enforcement- I would say they probably dropped it and the wafers have come off the spindles inside.!!!!

Cheers........ Big Luigi
