Web casting with a DVR system

Recommended Posts

Hi CCTV Forum,

I have an unusual request for anyone with a PC and multi-channel DVR card willing to lend a hand.

Background: I'm looking to do professional web-casting with digital surveillance technology. Why? Because modern DVR surveillance technology is cost effective, compact, location adaptable and can provide a more then adequate picture quality for streaming over the web.

An ideal setup: I want to use 6 to 8 cameras, scattered around a room, connected to a DVR computer with a 8 channel DVR PC that will record the video. Once recorded, the video would be mixed, live, using a program called Wirecast and streamed to the world. Wirecast is a live video streaming production tool that is designed to act as a digital video switch between multiple video capture devices.

The dilemma: I don't own any multi-channel DVR cards. As such I have no means of testing where or not Wirecast supports a multi-channel DVR card. Wirecast support has confirmed the fact that Wirecast works with single channel video capture cards but has no experience with multi-channel DVR cards. There is a decent probability that Wirecast will not work with a DVR card and I would prefer not to spend hundreds of dollars on a DVR card to find that out.

My request: The trail version of Wirecast is free for anyone to test a video recording system with before buying the software. If anyone could test how Wirecast works with a multi-channel DVR card and post the details (DVR card model numbers, screen shots, etc) the help would be invaluable to me. The brand of DVR card I'm most interested in is NUUO.

Thanks for reading,
