dcman 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Hi, I will be doing a security system for a facility. I ran all the wires but the IT guy terminated all my rg59 with compression coax F type connectors. However all my cameras are BNC. I was wondering if on one end of the cable I can do a f (the kind used for cableboxes/satellite)type compression connector, and on the other end a BNC connector. I'm curious if the quality will be deteriorated or not. All the cameras are 540tvl. Even at all the outlets that are running to display from the dvrs to the tvs are terminated with a F connector compression, what would be the best solution for this issue? Squiffy 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Using an F connector for video shouldn't be a problem at all. F connectors may seem crude, but they offer a reasonable performance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F_connector
Soundy 1 Posted August 13, 2009 That's no problem, you just need a bunch of these: We did a bunch of sub work for another company a couple years ago, all the sent us for the jobs was RG6, compression F connectors, and F-to-BNC adapters. Thinking they musta got a really good buy on one or the other...
dcman 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Great, that's good news! My last question is, let's say I have a 3 ft rg 59 cable, can I terminate a bnc connector one one end, and on the other end can I terminate a male rca terminal for composite video?
scorpion 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Yes you can. I assume that you are using this to go from the DVR to a monitor?
Soundy 1 Posted August 14, 2009 You can also use any combination of the following as necessary:
