Speco DVR-PC16

Recommended Posts

We are using a Speco Technologies DVR-PC16 dvr with 16 cameras hooked up to it and RemoteAgent as viewer software.

Occasionally we will get a blurry picture on playback ONLY, never on live video. Please view the attachment to see what i am talking about, not your standard blur, more like the picture is ripped into strips and then zig zagged about 2 mm each way.

We have tried to reboot the system, nothing else. It has occurred from more than one pc viewing it. Viewing pc's are attached to a LAN. No, we are not running a ton of bandwidth at the same time as the video feed.

Any ideas? Replace hard drive? Reboot more often? Junk it? DVR is about 5 years old and has been on 24/7 all that time. It is in our cold room, but still...

EDIT: hmm, can't upload the pic. Will try from a different pc shortly.

2nd EDIT: Tried to upload pic from 2 different pc's, using firefox & IE on each one. Each time I get the "Could not access ftp directory: 'attachments/thumbs'. Please check your FTP Settings" error.

I guess I will have to post a few more times so I am allowed to show a screenshot of my issue.

First off I am 99% sure this is a DVR issue only, as when the issue occurs, it happens on all 16 of the cameras.

The issue is random at this moment in time. Sometimes it has lasted a day or two, other times it has cleared up after 5 minutes.

The issue only happens while viewing previously recorded video, never on live video. That almost makes me think it is some corruption, a hard drive issue or a codec issue?

The DVR is located in our cold room.

The issue has only happened on remote viewing, never on the actual dvr unit itself to my knowledge.

Ok, the problem just occurred on the pc in question (not mine). I went and checked the same camera on the DVR itself and it was fine. I went down the hall to my laptop and logged in and the image was clear.

I then went back to his office and asked him to refresh the image, he did and the image was clear again.

I will be checking the camera's throughout the day on my pc to see if I can get the problem to happen. As of right now it might be an issue with his pc possibly?
