CHOPRAMO 0 Posted September 3, 2009 A couple of days ago a client of mine asked me to suggest a High End 16 channel DVR. he said budget was not an issue but he wanted the best and wanted to know why it was the best. I am a little confused......... Bosch, Honeywell, Dedicated Micros, Samsung, Panasonic etc...... all have fancy priced DVRs in the 16 channel analog range, but can anyone tell me which is better amongst them and, more importantly, WHY?????? I am a little confused......... Bosch, Honeywell, Dedicated Micros, Samsung, Panasonic etc...... all have fancy priced DVRs in the 16 channel analog range, but can anyone tell me which is better amongst them and, more importantly, WHY?????? "Best" for what? What sort of features is he looking for? What form factor? Standalone or PC-based? Does he want/need IP camera support? POS integration? Access controls? Redundancy? Multi-site support? What are the storage/retention requirements? From my own experience, Camacc/3xLogic have a great system in their Vigil DVRs. I've installed systems that will do up to 30fps on each of 32 analog channels (960fps total) as well as supporting a wide range of IP cameras and network storage. They have advanced POS integration and great technical support and have even created customized code for one of our clients to support their Squirrel POS systems. Their new versions now have built-in analytics as well. Compared to other similar systems I've seen, they're also quite reasonably priced for what they give you. There are many specs for every system which makes people confused, and can not tell any difference between each other...Specs is important, but real object is more important. Anyway you can check those live demos.
suky 0 Posted September 4, 2009 Each wellknown brand has its oustanding feature, what's your requirements of DVR's specification, when this confirmed, it will be more easy to choose a suitable one. such as: 1. video format compression: H.264 2. display frame rate:30 fps will be fine 3. record frame rate: 30fps 4. disply/recording resolution: 720x480 is not bad Those above may ensure real time recording. 5. operaion system: Linux is more stable than windows 6. 1TB HDD will record beyound one month. 7. support remote access and live view via 3G mobile and smart phone You can take those above into account, hope it helps

jets 0 Posted September 22, 2009 The question 'which is best?', as you can see, is impossbile to answer. There are many factors to consider, as others have pointed out. I'm fairly new to the field, and I had a similar question when i 1st came upon the dozens of mfr's available. I've been doing alot of online searching and book reading. As others have pointed out, there are differences in GUI's, storage capacities, compression codecs, etc. Importantly, based on how the client plans to monitor the images or not, know that DVR's vary widely in their abilities to provide decent images in 3 separate but simultaneous instances: monitoring directly from the DVR; viewing over the internet; and the images that are actually recorded. Some DVR's offer great recorded images, but crappy web images. So- does the client need web monitoring? If not, then you don't have to pay for it. Some units can maintain high quality web live images while the unit is playing back archived video.. others can't. Alos know the mfr's use a sleight of hand of sorts when detailing their specs: the term FPS is typically frames per second, but mfr's vary widely: some are actually talking 'fields' per sec, other are talking 'frames' per sec. 2 fields = 1 frame. So 2 mfr's list 480 fps. if a mfr is referring to fields, that's really 240 'frames' per second.. half capacity!! And often they won't tell you.. unless you ask. And often the 'tech' on the phone has no clue! Good Luck But find out client needs 1st
