mitch_johnson 0 Posted September 6, 2009 Hi this may sound a stupid question but how to cctv controllers work like the kind used to control PTZ cameras do they connect directly to the DVR so can be used to controll and scroll though all cameras on that DVR and just pan, tilt and zoom on PTZ cameras or do they connect direct to the camera. thanks a lot Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
seeseeteevee 0 Posted September 6, 2009 I have found that they depend on what equipment you have... Many generic controllers can connect directly to your ptz camera... the generic controllers have multiple protocols they can control. most common is Pelco P / D. Some brand name controllers only work with their equipment and they may have to be used with one of their multiplexers / DVRs. Both have their pros and cons... katie1985 0 Posted September 7, 2009 Hello! You can realize controlling on PTZ cameras via RS485. You need RS485 to connect your PTZ cameras and DVR.
