talmao 0 Posted September 6, 2009 Please help me with a basic newbie question. I have Geovision 1480 DVR and I'm using Speco 540tvl dome cameras. I'm seeing quite a bit of noise on all the cameras in live view, especially when looking at individual cameras in full view. I have the resolution set to D1. The connections are pretty solid (BNC). I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I'm just thinking by a way of an example like Best Buy. They have their security posted at the front entrance and I've seen them viewing the store cameras and they look much cleaner. Thanks for any help with the issue. Soundy 1 Posted September 9, 2009 Sounds to me like you're talking about compression artifacts, which are inherent to any form of lossy compression like MPEG, H.264, WMV, etc. The live view you're seeing at Best Buy doesn't have them because the video signal is going straight from the camera to the monitor, uncompressed and unprocessed.
