mp6365 0 Posted September 9, 2009 I am having issue with some Speco smoke detector covert cameras. Currently, I have 6 installed and am having problems with only 3. What is happening is that on the display I am experiencing the color changing between red and green spuraticaly. Tried replacing the camera with another of the same make and model with no success. If I replace the camera with a different type (dome) the picture comes up fine. When I bench test these cameras they work fine. Anyone ever experience an issue like this? Soundy 1 Posted September 11, 2009 What sort of domes are you testing with? Sounds like possibly signal-strength issues, or even ground-loop problems. Covert cams like that are generally built on super-cheap board cameras, while the domes you're testing with may be more robust.
rory 0 Posted September 11, 2009 It might be the type of lighting at the location. I had the same problem before. Switched to a different model camera and it was fine. The lighting problem is actually what the manufacturer told me about, seen it on various cheap cameras since then, all under indoor florescent lighting. Are these 12VDC cameras, and the dome 24VAC? You might need to just use those elsewhere, and get some different cameras altogether for that location. As mentioned cheap cameras can show all kinds of problems, cheap power boards maybe. If there are other cameras at the location, different models, then maybe try and isolate these smokes from them, try them on their own power supply.
