kaysadeya 0 Posted March 18, 2005 Interesting question: how do you confirm a RS-422 / 485 signal? Both its presence and its meaning. (Please don't post the answer in the dealer's only thread.)
Thomas 0 Posted March 18, 2005 Convert the signal to RS-232 and put it into a PC serial port. Then do a port capture. That would allow confirmation and let you see the protocol it's using.
tux 0 Posted March 22, 2005 I found out its VCL protocol so i cant use DVR now because it doesnt support that protocol i've just bought an RS485 to RS232 converter but wont be here for a week i dont know if the dome works 100% yet i did connect it directly to my RS232 port i knew i wouldnt be able to do anything but i thort it might recieve a load of gibberish then i would know it was kinda of working but it doesnt recieve anything is that what its supposed to do or is my dome at fault? Cheers
Joebo 0 Posted March 26, 2005 You could always use Sennetech to convert from one manufacturers code to another (e.g. Kalatel to VCL). http://www.sennetech.net/

However, they don't list any prices. What do these converters typically cost?
