3RDIGLBL 0 Posted September 16, 2009 Anyone know of a company which makes a line of cameras that are both IP megapixel and Analog which look the same? Gees, sucks to quote out a Hybrid solution and the customer has different looking cameras installed because some are megapixel and some are analog. Would be nice to have a line of cameras which have both and are the same body style. Thanks
hardwired 0 Posted September 16, 2009 If you are looking at domes, the Panasonic WV-NW484S (IP) and the WV-CW484S (analog) look the same, perform very well, and install easily. If you search here, you will find many positive reviews of these cameras, mine included.
Guest Posted September 16, 2009 If you are looking at domes, the Panasonic WV-NW484S (IP) and the WV-CW484S (analog) look the same, perform very well, and install easily. If you search here, you will find many positive reviews of these cameras, mine included. All megapixel cameras are IP cameras, but not all IP cameras are megapixel cameras. There are hundreds of IP cameras in same housing as analog, but not so many megapixel cameras! But if you have a megapixel camera that you like and some order QTY you can have analog cameras built in same housing for a price! In China there is more or less only 3 large companies making camera housing and they are selling to X number of camera manufacturs so many cameras are looking alike outside but inside they are different. I wish I had a volume that would put me in a position to have my own design! But that aint reality! I know some cameras that have same housing, they are: Analog - IP - Megapixel IP camera, all in same housing, also the IP camera has analog output so is more like a hybrid camera. But the megapixel cameras are "only" 1,3MP. JD
hardwired 0 Posted September 16, 2009 Sorry, I missed the reference to megapixel. The new Panasonic WV-NW502S Megapixel and the WV-CW504S Analog would be a possible choice there. I've been trying the box megapixel model (WV-NP502), and it looks really good so far. See a few shots I posted at http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=17863&start=30 I have a few analog WV-CW504S on order, if they really work better than the 484, they should be outstanding. 3RDIGLBL 0 Posted September 16, 2009 I've used the analog 484 pano domes and loved them. They are pricey but for a reason. I am tempted to try out the Pano MP's but I read you have to be certified or something like that in order for a distributor to sell them?? Not sure what this entails, maybe some online course of some sort? But ya, I have a customer which would have 18 cameras with 3 of them needing MP's because of the coverage area required. Was looking to use just 1.3s. I've been researching the crap out of this to the point of many many hours and having a hard time finding matching camera bodies. I just think it looks corny when you go into a place and there are different body styles installed. I mean some are ok like a dome and a ptz and a box are expected to be different. I can find dome with True D/N, WD or no WD and not True D/N etc and all share the same body but no luck with Megapixel and analog body styles. Thanks for the leads
Soundy 1 Posted September 17, 2009 Do these need to be weather-sealed domes for outdoor use, or are they for indoor? Indoor, you could possibly use something like the Pelco DF5 or DF8 line of enclosures, and populate them with whatever box cameras suit your needs - no need to even match brands, let alone models. The DF5 series are a 5"-diameter dome... DF8 are an 8" diameter for larger cameras. They're cosmetically identical, so you could even mix and match those if necessary. 3RDIGLBL 0 Posted September 17, 2009 All cameras will be inside. There're going into a new pharmacy. They want both cams and access which we'll be doing both. These enclosures look a little large but I'll take a look at them, thanks for the lead. I'm not a big pelco fan but since it's just the enclosures I could compromise Might be a good alternative to domes cams.
Soundy 1 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) keep in mind, the bulk of that is inside the ceiling - they mount easily into tile or solid drywall, and you don't need access to the back to secure them DF8 (8") in a 2'x2' ceiling tile Edited September 17, 2009 by Guest
