New 8 channel card not working, don't know what to do...

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

My first post didn't go through for some reason so hopefully this won't be a dupplicate.

Anyhow I just bought a 8 channel card from CCTVHotDeals and my computer meets all the requirements and sees the card and drivers were installed but when I try and run the software I get the following error:

"Run-time error '32015: Clip Region boundary error"

Not sure what I did wrong but if anyone else has had this problem please let me know.

Regards,

Jeff

You can try to disable the UAC function in Vista and also when installing software, run the setup file as administrator, right click setup.exe

Did you contact them for support advice? Since they sold it to you they should tell you how to resolve the issue.

If they can't do that just send it back and get a better known card.

What card would you recomend that won't break the bank? Using this to keep an eye on my 2 girls. Putting a camera in each of their rooms and one in the front yard and another in the backyard. Wanted the 8 channel so I can expand if needed

I would suggest going with a four channel Geovision card at first. Then in the future, if needed, add another four channel card into the same computer. You might find you only need four channels after all.

The Geovision is more expensive than the card you just bought but I feel you will be satisfied with the Geo card.

You check out some of our leaderboard advertisers (banners at the top of forums) for more pricing/feature information.

Hope that helps

Put XP on the PC and try it with that instead.

Also, does that HP PC only have 1 PCI slot, if so that could be your problem. Might want to try it in another PC.

Also, what are the PC specs? Does it have an Intel chipset?

Better yet, send that Error Message to the DVR Card Manufacturer as them or their Software Developer should know what it means.

EDIT:

Appears that is an activeX control error:

The ClipHeight and ClipWidth properties specify coordinates which are outside the boundary of the bitmap loaded in the PictureClip control.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa228381%28VS.60%29.aspx

it might also be an error from other ms programming languages.

I also think it is more likely to be a Vista problem, than an AMD problem. If it is going to be a dedicated system, wipe Vista and install XP.

My main test computer is right now an old Athlon64 3Ghz computer, and I can tell you that all DVR cards I work with, they all work ok on that AMD system.

Hi,

why not use a Linux card? Open source OS, and linux is well known to be more stable and reliable.

best regards,

Not much help, but it might help lead to a solution. From MSN:

32015 picClipBounds Clip region boundary error.

The ClipHeight and ClipWidth properties specify coordinates which are outside the boundary of the bitmap loaded in the PictureClip control.

So it then has somehting to do with the screen resolution?

Maybe try the good old 1024*768 pixels and see what happens!

Possibly the best advise

Following are some points I feel

why not use a Linux card? Open source OS, and linux is well known to be more stable and reliable.

Hi neugent .. Not all software support Linux as far as I know .. there seemed to be an Open source s/w called Zoneminder .. but could never seemed to get it running ..

Might be a little tough for .. at least it was tough for me

I also think it is more likely to be a Vista problem, than an AMD problem.

Could be a combination of both maybe .. I've encountered some weird problems with my athlon previously ..

Vista .. or what I personally call "$#I+STA" .. is a brewing pot for all problems one can imagine of ..

did you try again with unchecking the uac under user accounts in vista..when you uncheck and apply you need to unistall

hotcctvdeals as a name to purchase from kinda tells you a lot.. mainly box shifters.. no support .. lack of knowledge and poor service..as you have clearly seen

alternatively try unininstalling drivers and software.. create a new account ie test or something.. re boot into the newly created account and try installing drivers first then software.. make sure uac is unticked.
