todd2 0 Posted October 8, 2009 I got a motion trip from what I think is a bug flying around on an IR LED camera, except that the thing glows white. When it approaches the lens, it's just a big white square or polygon; I never get a resolved image of the bug at any distance. Is this just because it's wings move too fast to capture and it reflects IR light strongly, or do I have a UFO sighting?

todd2 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Anyone have a serious answer? Can I confirm that insects appear as glowing blobs on IR cameras?
Sawbones 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Yes. They fly right into the lens, and are so close that they're out-of-focus... thus appearing as blobs.
dopalgangr 1 Posted October 10, 2009 Anyone have a serious answer? Can I confirm that insects appear asglowing blobs on IR cameras? Come on, that is a serious answer Haven't your ever watched Ghost Hunters on Wednesdays on the SciFy Channel?? No, like Sawbones said, they are just bugs on the lens. maxny 0 Posted October 10, 2009 It's bats eating the bugs attracted by the IR lights.
