IP camera security risk?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, this is from a partner. Maybe you'd want to answer.

I have setup a multiple IP camera system using Level One IP cameras. However, recently I came across this article where IP cameras where IP video signals can be hijacked and retransmitted. What are your inputs?

[edit: link removed]

This can present risks for me, especially with my current multi-store setup, without recording. What measures can you suggest? Thanks in advance for your inputs

You would have to encrypt "from the camera" to the DVR etc

A firewall might stop freaks getting in tho.

Its quite easy to grap the RX or TX of a CAT5 cable and sniff it.

To change it you would have to break the data stream which would kill off the link but there are ways around that also.

There is some test equip that will clip over a cable to sniff !
