VST_Man 1 Posted March 29, 2005 I'm looking for good IP management software that I can run in the background to monitor who (in terms of IP address's, ect) is gaining access to my server(s). I've played with a few, and even got hacked by a nice man in Sweden who wrote the software I was trying for him. Anyone out there have a recommendation? I'm running XP Pro. Integratek 0 Posted March 31, 2005 I'd recommend IP Tools http://www.ks-soft.net/ip-tools.eng/ I'm using it for over 3 years now
VST_Man 1 Posted March 31, 2005 thanks. is there a way to kill a connection........or is this just a monitor? I get various attempts to enter my server/network and some have ran programs that look for an open port. I'd love to report or send them a email........or just lock that IP address out for good. Integratek 0 Posted March 31, 2005 This software has most networking utilities in it but no option to kill connection or block a port or ip adress if you are looking for a solution to secure your network interface you really should use firewall, either software or hardware Software firewalls are generally much more affordable and easier to configure I am using Outpost Firewall by Agnitum http://outpost.agnitum.com/ IMO it's best on the market
joe4 0 Posted March 31, 2005 You need a IPS (intrusion prevention system) I use www.fortinet.com for the past few years and love it. It will do Firewall Content Filtering Antivirus Antispyware IPS IDS Anitspam VPN Traffic Shaping Virtual Domains All in one box.

Thomas 0 Posted April 1, 2005 *cough* A syn packet with the PC's IP address...crafted just right and watch the XP/2k/2k3 box lock up. But where one would get such a packet...well the bugtrack mailing list might know.
