jojolo 0 Posted November 13, 2009 Recently i try to use the Geovision Center V2. When i connect the Geovision DVR system to center V2 with ddns hostname (within Local Area Network), it cant connect to center V2. But when i use the local ip, it works perfectly. Is it the center V2 cant support for local looping? or i miss something?
rocko_mtv 0 Posted January 16, 2010 From my experience with CV2 this is a normal thing. I have to ask why you would want to go out to the www when you are monitoring on local anyway? Other than testing your dns updater? Seems it would just be a process thats un-necessary?
jeromephone 6 Posted January 17, 2010 once you connect via IP you just click on hostname and you never have to enter IP again. Why is this a problem. I was once told that center is a better way to connect if one is going to connect over the internet but I have not used that product.
Harrar 0 Posted January 31, 2010 As Rocko said, why go over the internet? Your LAN will give you full 100Mbps connection not the slower DSL/cable speeds. The other consideration is that if you go over the web you have to make sure all the appropriate ports are open on your router for both computers. Not necessary for the LAN connection. Finally, depending on how your local network is set up, firewalls and such, two computers may not be able to access each other thru the web. Only thru their local IP addresses.
