Stephenmayne1 0 Posted November 13, 2009 Hi I am new to this and I can't find any related topics so I apologise if there are any. I would like to restream a Avermedia or vivotek IP camera so that if I log on from a remote PC I don't need to download any active X installs. I have tried this with a website called streamby and it works well but it doesn't support these cameras. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks Stephen
hardwired 0 Posted November 13, 2009 If you have a PC connected you can leave on, you could try something like VLC, http://www.videolan.org/ ,to take in a IP cam stream and re-encode it. It's got a bit of a learning curve for that, though. Makes a great media player, too, plays more formats than almost any other player.
Twilo123 0 Posted November 18, 2009 2nd the vlc player however for avermedia it may depend on the unit model you are trying to re-stream. i would think there are some websites that would support the vivotek streams though.
tku2000 0 Posted December 11, 2009 Hi, Regarding this issue, I'm wondering if there's any DVD player using VLC to playback video streams? I mean not like an Avermedia DVR, but a DVD player which can play video streams. Thanks. JC
