long range wireless video

I am working through this and getting places. Does anybody know what the dealio is FOR SURE 100% positive on the DS Xpress series if I am going to need a lisc for each non Pelco IP camera or will the single lisc that came with the unit cover all 16? Or if I use Pelco IP cams I only need the single lisc?

 

Also any clues as to pricing on lisc if any for that particular unit? Thanx

 

just about got the equipment list together......I am trying to decide if I wanna use the DS Xpress or just build the customer a quad core unit I7 based....all within the budget on that.

 

Check the spec. sheet here.. on the .pdf, it lists P/N DS-SW-CAM for non-Pelco brand cams, and P/N DS-SW-CAM-P for Pelco IP cams, on a per-cam basis... It also has a compatibility list on that page, I don't think the cam you are looking at is on it...

 

BTW, I'm about five miles from Pelco... but I use very little of their stuff, other than housings and Spectra's... You can probably do better with third-party software like Exacq or others....

I was "thinking" about using in stock dvr stuff. From digging around it looks like Pelco anything IP is going to be out on this build......still trying to nail down cams dangit. I am also going to have 4 analogs, that wont be an issue...but jeeze what a pain. I really like the whole box solutions myself, although not winner quality and more of the liquer store varity....but jeeze.

This is more brain work than I anticipated. Anyways I got to see the cams I have chosen in action today good enough for me. Here is the tenative list:

1) HD26912-5 Antenna with 5 radios (EOC-2610)

6) HD26912 Antenna single radio (EOC-2610)

1) EOC1650 Antenna single radio

1) HD27011 Gigabit Router (ECB-9500)

 

4) ACM-1231 Outdoor mega pixel ip cam

1) ACM-1431 Outdoor ip cam

3) ACM-3311N Indoor dome

4) KPC-S190CDV

 

Then ACTi NVR V2.2 software. I am going to build an Intel based machine with the I7 quad 4 gigs of ram windows 7 64bit (hopefully), 4 TB's of storage, dual onboard gigbit lan, 512 PCIx video card, still working on the analog card, probably going to be techwell chipset since I have tons of those in stock, this will handle the analog side, two four channels chips on each card at 120 fps, (120 fps per four) @ D1. So effectively giving me 30 fps per channel. More than those measly analog cams can handle but should give some good imagery I think.

Any comments on the above would be well recived. Thanx all, tomorrow is final site walkthrough and hopefully a deposit!

Also, sure that card will work with windows 7 and 64bit?

Also, using 1 single PC for the 2 server apps?

Analog cards don't work with the ACTI NVR software. I would recommend ACTI's IP encoders for your analog cameras then you would have everything on the ACTI software.

Yeah I know, the customer has four peephole cams on the corners of there house in a 2x4 box with a plate. They insist LOL, what can a guy do. LOL

 

Yes that card will work with W7, that I do know as to 64 bit that I dont know. lol Going to find out though, if not then 32 bit it is!

 

Not to sure I follow you on the two server apps? Perhaps you could enlighten the ignorant? Yes one PC at this point unless you shatter my image of granduer!

Don't think analog cards work with the ACTI software. I would recommend ACTI's IP encoders for your analog cameras then you would have everything on the ACTI software.

They do not.............. Use encoders.

 

Also have you used Acti's NVR software? Does it do everything you need?

I have never used that software, from the specs it looks good on paper. Would have a rec. for my app? I think it would behoove me to stick with the same company for the software...just my 2 cents

I haven't tried there software in awhile but last time I used it is was very buggy and not very user friendly.

OK cool thanx for the heads up. Vista home not supported I can understand and server 2000 I can understand, if it supports server 03 and 08 it does make sense that it wont support 64 bit...I betcha that is a memory issue....hmmmm I bet I could get it to work on 64. I did look at there revisions and the list is long. But I am used to Digital Sentry crapola talk about not friendly ugggg. I will have a gander at there other versions and see. I can always D/L it and see what makes it tick. But I have been told that if at all possible a guy wants to stick with the cams manf. software when possible, also I dont want to run into IP lisc crap issues either. Otherwise I would just slam a DS Xpress real Vue into the mix and make myself miserable LOL So what do you think about my setup other than the software?

Don't use up all your brain power yet you have along way to go.

 

How many FPS do you plan on getting from those 1231's over the wireless? Does your customer expect good night time images from the camera's? Do you know how much bandwidth will be coming out of the camera's though the wireless system?

 

Since you are using Engenius I would use 8 (EOC-2610) and one (EOC1650) with a high gain Omni Antenna. Put the access point of the outside of the house because you are going to lose a lot of bandwidth pushing the signal though the house.

 

I have used the those access points before and they work well and so do the cameras.

 

Though the next wireless job I do I am going to used the Ubiquiti because of the wireless N, and the fact that they have POE to power the camera. That will make powering the setups a lot easier and they are the same price.

No I have not done the numbers yet, but at giganet I should be good. I know I know, my theroy is this, I am better to dummy down the cam ergo slow the fps down if I have to and or res...which is always better than trying to up scale a camera, you cant make crap look better...smells the same looks the same...LOL

 

I won't be "pushing" through the house, the back antenna I will be able to cat 5 to the router. That is the only one that I can do that with. The router will be in plain sight 30' away from the front rec antenna. POE why is everybody stuck on that? I dont need it. I have 120v at ALL the cameras and a weathertight box already mounted with power in it and room for the camera power adapter!

 

The IR is just a toss in, basically it comes with the camera, the focal point for all of these cams is about 15' looking pretty much straight down. Very narrow area to monitor. If I can get 10 to 15 FPS I will be real happy, right now there lucky to have like 3fps LOL, so I am sure this setup will beat that.

Your throughput per camera is going to be around 4MB with the multi-point setup.

 

Also the megapixel ACTI cameras do max of 8fps and you can forget about getting that with the wireless setup.

 

POE makes the install easier with the POE output to power the camera. Also one less transformer to plug in and less heat to build up in the outdoor box with the sun beating down on it.

 

Also POE is the only way to power the Enginus Access points.

The only think I did not like is there was no way to seal-tight the cat5 from the access point to the box we had to leave it exposed. Also the other idea to protect the cat5. I wanted to bring the wire though the door into the box behind the access point but there was no way of doing that and keeping everything weather tight.

Could you please drop me a link on this? I contacted our local distributor yesterday asking about such a product, they said it doesnt exist. He said Nanostation M is the same like Nanostation 2 or 5, just higher throughput.

Ok now you got me all screwed up thanx! actually I am following you. OK so if I went with the ubiquiti, I could get more frame rates eh? ok the router I picked does wireless N...but I am sorta confused again, just when I thought I had this down. Both the antennas I chose and the cams support POE? I just looked again. Now what your saying is that all I would have to do is power the antenna and omit the need to run another wire to the camera eh? utilizing POE, So all I would have to deal with is the single cat5 to the camera?

I also researched the omni idea more...you probably have something there. No reason I couldn't go higher with that antenna.

 

So sell me on the Ubiquiti. I am totally open to the idea and as you said it wont change my bottom line, I have not orderd anything yet. What exactley would you suggest for my setup.

Oh looking at the cams specs, I can run them at HD720 or VGA, I bet they would put out a good VGA signal. It would most likely be a real good slam nice and solid!

The "N" rate stuff will give far higher throughput than standard "G" rate stuff, and their feature "AirMax" also raises throughput in situations where you have multiple remotes to one access point.

This combo will give far higher performance than standard "G" rate stuff...
