GSDog 0 Posted November 25, 2009 Hi all. After an attempted burglary a few days ago on my premises I desperately need to setup a CCTV system. It happened in broad daylight at 10am on Monday morning and if I only had CCTV I would have definitely got their faces and the vehicle that they were using. It's happened several times now and we often get people drive in and snoop around the place checking out the buildings, no doubt planning something. Firstly, I'm a complete novice at CCTV technology so I don't know what equipment would be best. I do have a spare PC that I could use or I would consider buying a DVR recorder if that is better? My budget is low at a maximum of £300. I'd like it to be clear enough to identify cars, number plates and faces and it has to be good enough quality to use in court as evidence if it needs to be. I'd also like to be able to view the CCTV remotely over the internet. The premises has two barns, some garages, a workshop and an office building. Because I have a low budget I would consider buying just 1 camera for the time being to cover the driveway and I could gradually add more over time. I also don't mind buying second hand to save on costs. Any help with this would be appreciated.
zmxtech 0 Posted November 25, 2009 DIY is fine if you can spend a few years getting the expereince up to fine tune your system, otherwise you need a guru in there. Especially if your being targeted all the time. z
