Dongwonsecurity 0 Posted November 26, 2009 Hi all, 540TVL products has been almost 2 years in a market. I found the most common resolution of CCTV Camera is 540TVL in present market. CCTV Camera with 600 TVL in color is out now. Do you think CCTV Camera/600TVL will replace CCTV Camera/540TVL? It seems 550,560, and 580 TVL are bitten by 540TVL. Waiting for opinions. griffonsystems 0 Posted November 26, 2009 if your dvr is only able to record at a max 704x480 whats the point of having a 540tvl camera?
rory 0 Posted November 26, 2009 580, 540, 650, same diff, what really matters is the total pixels and from one to the next they are pretty much the same anyway, 811x508.
Dongwonsecurity 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Except 650 TVL, from 540TVL~600TVL has 811X508 same total effective pixels. 650TVL has 48K CCD. frequently wondering why high resolution CCTV camera is needed as users used to set dvr recording with less resolution. pls commnent. Because maximum resolution of 99% of the video-encoding chipsets on the market IS 604-480 to 704x480, so the DVRs CAN'T be set any higher. To go beyond that would require a new chipset, which would mean redesign and retooling of existing cards and software. That would equate to a very expensive hardware upgrade to support MAYBE 10% higher usable pixel count. Meanwhile, megapixel camera prices are still dropping fast - 1.2MP is four times the resolution of 4CIF/D1 for very little extra money and no additional hardware required... it's just not cost-effective to substantially redesign video-capture hardware for such a minimal improvement. Sawbones 0 Posted November 27, 2009 If you need more pixels, just go megapixel. Why reinvent the analog wheel?
