cant view my dvr over net or lan

hi there ive brought a 4ch dvr off ebay got it up and running very easy with a 500g hdd usb to laptop is fine but cant view it over the internet or LAN the dvr has an ip address and dns from my belkin 54g router ive tryed useing dx client that came with dvr all that dose is times out due to no stream ports on dvr and router are 80 dose anyone have any ideas all i want to do is view if wireless on my laptop over my network im not that fussed about viewing it all over the www

its a linux bassed dvr

Have you tried logging in through the browser?

 

Also through the browser you may have to end the IP address with the port number.

 

192.168.0.10:75

this dosent work tryed it ie wont connect to it

Interesting.

 

I would assume this is a DVR that will allow you to log in through the browser. (Some only work through some kind of software).

 

I am thinking that you need to resolve the browser log in problem first. If it works through the browser locally, then it should work through the browser remotely, and then you can switch to the DNS address.

Try telnet to it, open command prompt and type;

 

telnet IP PORT

 

note,

-you have to first be connected to the local router, same one the DVR is on

-setup the DVR with a STATIC IP address, subnet and gateway, for the router.

-make sure both IPs are in the same range

tryed this aswell this is realey getting to my tryed useing dx client that came with it if you go onto ebay and view 190329739893 item number thats what i have bet its a turd and im trying to polish it

as a thought to i need to enable UPnP (Universal Plug-and-Play) on my router
