fdan4817 0 Posted April 7, 2005 Per the boss, I have to find a DVR card that will run in the Dell Optiplex GX150, P3, 1 Ghz, 256-512 RAM, Standard Dell Video. Any suggestions? Doesn't matter if it is slow or choppy, it just has to work (with 10-16 cameras) in this box. My guess is we will have to go to a 30fps (total) card or something of that nature. G22 0 Posted April 7, 2005 I imagine there are some, but I do not know of any off hand myself. Your boss sounds like mine perhaps. I had to wait for someone to get fired so I could steal their P4 workstation to use for a PC Based DVR. Luckily for me, it was someone in Senior Management who did photography/video editing on the side and needed a fast workstation. Tell yer boss to go with Dell Financial or something and get a decent Dell if that is the preferred manufacturer

fdan4817 0 Posted April 7, 2005 Well, the problem is that they bought a handful of these PC's last summer (or sometime). My PC that I work on every day is the exact same type of computer. There are quite a few others throughout the office that I suspect are also exactly the same.
rory 0 Posted April 8, 2005 Darn, you could havew had the 2.0ghz i just threw out ... Anyway, the biggest problem is the onboard video ,, that will always slow you down. Only thing to do is add as muh memory as you can.
qman 0 Posted April 8, 2005 The I-VIEW will work on it, with no problems, as long as you can give the video 16 megs of video ram. 1 GHZ and 256 ram is ok, just get enough hard drive space to save the files. Also, the only slowdown will be in searching for video clips, but other than that you will be OK.
