psprigs 0 Posted December 29, 2009 Hi, Ive use 2 types of cameras for my basic setups, a internal dome, 1/3 had sony ccd, 550tv lines, 470k pal pix colour, and a external dome version with IRs... same spec... both running 4-9mm but set at 4mm £80 spec cameras I use cat5 using 12dv on 1 pair and video on another with no baluns, of runs below 40 meters or so... The images during the day are better, i understand at night these cameras arnt really upto the job and i accept that part... but the last 3 installs have no ghosting, no image destortion etc... but there never sharp as id like. All the settings on the hardware are set to the highest with countless amount of hours playing... Im quiet happy to buy hardware to test and to make a better solution for the customer... These have been plugged into a basic £250 dvr, also into a 8ch alien pro dvr, and now a HV4000 series pc dvr card. All were plugged into a 22" pc monitor running the highest res. im thinking that its maybe cable, but then ive tried it with 2 meters of rg59 or rg6 and still the same... Could it be cameras? i know this is a amatuer type post.

psprigs 0 Posted December 30, 2009 Hi, the image quality issue is on preview, the settings for record are d1 640*480, with highest quality... out of interest, whats the best way on cat5 to create the earth for vid and power? is it better to have it at dvr end?
