Gunner 0 Posted January 1, 2010 hi everybody im new to the forum i have recently bought a ptz and im just not sure about the three wire power plug on my camera. The middle wire is ground and the two outside wires are 24v ac. Do i need two 24v connections to these two wires or is it a positive and negative. i have bought a transformer to run the camera but it doesnt really tell me anything either, it has two wires blue and red and doesnt tell me if they are both positive or positive and negative. Any help really appreciated
Soundy 1 Posted January 1, 2010 You only need to use the 24VAC connections. There is no "positive" and "negative" with AC.

Soundy 1 Posted January 1, 2010 Assuming you've bought the correct transformer yes that should be all it takes. An important consideration though, is the current capability of the transformer - if it's not sufficient, the camera could have issues powering off and on, and/or it could fry the transformer. The power rating should be listed on the transformer in "VA" - ie. 40VA, 75VA, etc. For a PTZ, you generally want AT LEAST a 40VA... ideally 75VA or better. Gunner 0 Posted January 1, 2010 Hi soundy havent got it handy now to see what it says on it about va but its 2 amps or 2000ma if thats any good. The camera spec says input voltage-18-30v power-11watts power on in-rush current=1.5amps hope this helps, if not i will post the transformer info tomorrow morning thanks again for all your help
