mrreddog 0 Posted January 4, 2010 well im pretty familiar with most other electronics,and i read over the user guide,its pretty straight forward.im just unsure how video resolution,compression,cif,d-1 all works....(i read all kinds of tutorials,still don't quite get it) i guess my question should of been--with good cameras, are these video display/record/playback specs pretty good?? i was looking at the avtech761 but i think these display/record/playback specs are higher?? it meets all my other needs,im just looking for the best resolution specs i can get while staying as cheap as possible..help,anybody? Hi mrreddog. the avertech is a much better spec dvr. if you stick with brand names then you are ok. lots of un branded from korea will give massive spec and good warranty (only good if you are in korea) where are you mrreddog ??? mrreddog 0 Posted January 4, 2010 yeah i gotcha, Korea is quite far from Michigan...anyways i just got of the phone with the guys that sell the viewmax 800,apparently it is d-1(720x480) but at only 7.5 fps, which is, i think,the same as the avtech 761 ?(correct me if im wrong) so what do you guys consider a good resolution? probably d-1 @ 30 fps.per ch.,am i correct?? if so now my search begins all over again......whats the cheapest solution for a stand alone 8ch. dvr. that gets d-1 @ 30fps. per ch.?? resolution is my main concern.. thanks guys,im learning.. Hi mrreddog. the best way to look at fps is the human eye sees at 13.7 fps so anything between 5fps 15fps is good enough. as far as resolution. cif/mpeg/mjpeg/h.265. you cant go wrong with mjpeg recording just sent you a pm. There is no such thing as cheapest D1@30fps/channel!!! D1 at 25/30fps is high-end! I learnt that the hard way too .. after sifting through a multitude of DVR Cards to discover that ..
