plindsay1 0 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi All, I have an Analog camera that I want to transmit wirelessly about 300 yds. Line of sight. Any recommendations??? It will be a Spectra IV PTZ, so I need the contol functions as well. Cost is no problem. I need a reliable shot and reliable equipment. Thanks in advance. hardwired 0 Posted January 20, 2010 I have a similar setup with an Esprit running fine on an Acti encoder /decoder pair, and a pair of Ubiquiti Nanostation units in a WDS bridge. It also allows NVR recording, as well as analog viewing/ control points.
Erron S. 0 Posted January 20, 2010 Ok, so bi-directional data with video. A few manufactures come to mind. Trango Wireless Videocomm Technologies MicroTec If you're going IP or using encoders Avalan Wireless is a stellar product.
123SP 0 Posted January 21, 2010 plindsay1, Unless you want to deploy two separate radio links, one for video and the other for serial data comm, I strongly recommend encoding (digitizing & compressing) your signal using an encoder/decoder combination. Since money is no object, I recommend using a Verint Nextiva wireless product. It will accept Spectra's analog video input along with telemetry control signals. Best of all, the encoder is built into the wireless transmitter (TX). Once the video lands safely the receiver/decoder will output a high res. (max. 460 TVL)analog stream. This approach allows you to leverage your existing analog CCTV h/w. Give it a shot!
3RDIGLBL 0 Posted January 21, 2010 Same but different subject. I have a customer that would like to broadcast local events in their town using a video camcorder. I plan to use a wireless feed with an Access Point sitting high in mid-town on a firestation tower and the other antenna will be portable and is planned to be used within a 2 mile radius of the AP. The building that has the AP has a Fiber link directly to the local cable station so I need to be able to take a fully analog live video feed from a camcorder, encode it, transmit it wirelessly to the access point, decode it back so that it can be transmitted over fiber. I would need to encode both the video and audio. While we are on the subject of the analog over wireless discussion this may fit right in.
123SP 0 Posted January 21, 2010 Sounds like you'll be quite busy:) I recently worked on a 150+ camera, hybrid analog/digital video surveillance system aimed at augmenting homeland security efforts in NYC. I worked with a small crew of four specialists tasked with running these cameras over Verint wireless links. I have worked with numerous vendors' products and I must say, the price to performance ratio was very good. Another neat featured we took advantage of was embedded video analytics, in this case edge-oriented analytics. Oh yeah, these devices are fault tolerant, so they can be programmed to fail-over to nearby LOS radios in order to maintain a particular link. But the ultimate wireless installations, for me, are wireless mesh applications. They are so cool. You should see how much video we piped down into this little control room in a NC oil refinery we wired up at the end of the summer. UNBELIEVABLE! Let me know how they work for you.
